COMPOSING / ARRANGING
Jon is a highly-skilled arranger and orchestrator with numerous arrangements for strings, orchestral reductions, reorchestrations and simplified editions for youth ensembles to his name. Jon's arrangements have been performed in concert in London and the North West, with ensembles such as Hallam Choral Society, Preston Cecilian Choral Society and Cantores Olicanae, and conductors such as Ellie Slorach, Robert Brooks and Rory Johnston. Recent reworkings include Brahms 'Geistliches Lied' and Britten 'Rejoice in the Lamb' for string quintet (or string orchestra) and choir, and orchestral reductions of movements of Holst 'The Planets' for chamber orchestra. Jon will look to continue to grow his output of music for strings and choir, plus arrangements for smaller/socially-distanced orchestras, and the majority of past and future arrangements will soon be made available through New Vine Publishing (see PUBLISHING, DESIGN + VIDEO EDITING).
As a composer, Jon has previously seen his original works performed by Manchester University Commissioning Ensemble and selected to be part of New Music North West contemporary music festival and he continues to write original music when time allows. Presently, Jon's compositional output is primarily focused on MultiCelli, working in collaboration with composer Oliver Mayo to write multi-tracked works for cello with Jon as the sole performer. MultiCelli frequently takes inspiration from nature and landscapes — almost all sounds are created organically from the cello and they experiment with innovative techniques and articulations, coupled with digital effects, to achieve their desired sound. Four singles have been released so far, the first of which (Pacific) was featured on Scala Radio as Hannah Cox's "Ambient Track of the Week". Pacific will also be aired regularly on Scala Radio's late night show "The Space" having been added to its general playlist. MultiCelli's debut album will be released later in the year and for more information please visit multicelliartist.com or @multicelliartist on Instagram.
