TEACHING
An experienced and committed teacher and educator, Jonathan* is Director of Excellence Programmes for the Music in Secondary Schools Trust (MiSST). MiSST "works with young people of all backgrounds and abilities, helping to remove the barriers between them and classical music. MiSST work with secondary schools who serve disadvantaged and sometimes challenging communities by providing not only enhanced staffing and funding for classical instruments, but also regular support, opportunities to perform and a programme of excellence that is unrivalled in the UK." In his role, Jonathan is responsible for the running and implementation of the charity's Excellence Programmes (including directing and conducting the MiSST Music Academy); helps to assist departments and ensembles within Trust schools; and is part of the team that oversees the week-to-week running of the Trust.
Jonathan was proud of what he and MiSST were able to achieve in the challenging times during and post- Covid-19 lockdown (March 2020), with many virtual recordings, concerts and courses (see MEDIA). Jonathan has since been able to facilitate in-person, live concerts (including a sold-out Queen Elizabeth Hall) and MiSST's first residential to Radley College in 3 years (see below and MEDIA). Jonathan looks forward to MiSST's 10th Anniversary Concert at Theatre Royal Drury Lane on Monday 24th April 2023! Jonathan has previously taught and coached ensembles at Ashmole Academy, Enfield Grammar School and privately, and was awarded the ABRSM CME (Certificate for Music Educators) qualification in 2019.
